We are guilty of magical thinking, when we believe that a miracle will suddenly appear, and fix us and our problem without some – or any – effort on our part.  A lot of magical thinking happens when we choose to ignore history, evidence and/or results, instead believing that some otherworldly benevolence will intervene on our behalf and save us from our inaction.

So we seek the speakers of comfort and pursue the disbursers of tchotchkes, all in the bid to distract ourselves from doing the needful, which is thinking and acting for ourselves. Only a few have decided that magical thinking of this sort is of no value. When will we wake up?

Fear nothing!
